About MISTI Bahrain

The MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI) program is a globally recognized initiative that connects students with hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and innovation. With programs around the world, MISTI Bahrain is part of the MISTI Arab World Program and proudly holds the distinction of being the first MISTI program in the Gulf region.

MISTI Bahrain launched in January 2023 with one program, introducing 20 students to fields in advanced technology. Building on that success, MISTI Bahrain expanded to two programs in 2024, reaching 50 students. In January 2025, the initiative will grow with four parallel programs involving over 100 students and offering immersive experiences in engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation. Open for free to students from both public and private schools, these programs are hosted at Riffa Views International School, providing access to world-class resources and opportunities for high school students. Additionally, the American University of Bahrain collaborates with MISTI by implementing tailored programs for university students at its campus.

The inception of MISTI Bahrain is credited to the efforts of three visionary Bahraini women, Maryam Aljomairi, Marwa Alalawi, and Latifa Alkhayat, who sought to bring transformative educational opportunities to Bahrain’s youth. Their initiative has set a new standard for innovation education in the region, preparing students to lead in technology-driven fields. Since then, under the guidance and management of Zahi Wehbe, The Lead Program Manager, and Curriculum Writer, the programs have continued to evolve, with thoughtfully crafted curriculums and engaging ideas designed to inspire students in hands-on, advanced technology fields.
